It is my pleasure to inform you that I will be your son’s/daughter’s English I/Pre AP teacher for the 2018-2019 school year, and I am really looking forward to working with you and your child, especially because he/she is beginning high school. I have high expectations for your child and I will do all that I can to help your child achieve those expectations. I am sending home a copy of the rules as well as the consequences that will result should your son/daughter choose not to follow them. Please sign and return the signature page and have your child sign it also so that I can keep the signature page on file. You may keep the classroom rules for your records. 

Additionally, I am including a list of materials that your child will need for our class. I would like for you to know that we will be incorporating SAT vocabulary units into our weekly literature program. We will be starting each class with journal writing, where students will be embedding their newly learned SAT terms. We will be testing vocabulary and literature on a weekly basis; quizzes are every Friday without fail. Pre- AP students will also be responsible for creating at least two major technology projects that involve working independently. If you have any concerns, please let me know beforehand. We will run a rigorous academic program, where your child will definitely mature into a much more refined reader and writer. 

Finally, I want you to know that one of my most important goals is to keep the lines of communication open with you.  I am available to talk between 9:45 AM-10:45 AM.
