Welcome!
Biology provides students with a foundational knowledge of the life sciences. In addition to lectures on biological topics, students usually participate in laboratory exercises that might involve observing organisms under a microscope, creating drawings and performing research on topics discussed in class.
Subjects like taxonomy, reproduction, genetics and the origin of life are normally explored during this course. Students learn about different types of plants and animals, including how they have evolved, how their cells are structured and how they interact with their environment. The human body is explored as students learn about how the various organ systems interact. They also learn about the concepts of genetics and microbiology as they apply to humans, animals and plants.
