Our Mission

The Guidance and Counseling Department’s Mission is to implement a comprehensive school counseling program to promote student success through academic achievement, promote prevention and intervention activities to provide a safe and nurturing environment, provide social/emotional and career development, and increase student admittance and success in institutions of higher learning.

A League of Our Own

We Have Community.

United High School is a public high school located in the northern portion of Laredo, TexasUnited States, and is a part of the United Independent School District. Communities within the United High boundary include portions of Laredo and the following census-designated places

 

We Have Heart.
We're the only district in the country with a dedicated "Squirrel Crossing Guard" at Oakwood Elementary.

We Have History.
United High School, a part of United ISD in Laredo, Texas, was established after the district’s 1961 creation and gained national attention in 1963 for its innovative underground design that served as a community fallout shelter, a model for over 300 schools, and was featured in a 1965 Department of Defense film. The school also pioneered one of the nation's first bilingual education programs in 1964, allowing Spanish to be used in the classroom for the first time in Texas history. 

We Have Success.

United High School's graduation rate is consistently reported as very high, with different sources citing 97% as the average.We are the only Texas Education Agency A+ rated high school in Laredo, Texas.
